New Tribes Repack 8
Posted by phantom on 27.08. at 09:50
Tribes Repack release 8 is out now. Get it here (458 MB).
A patch to update older versions of the repack to version 8 is now available: here (79 MB).
(On Windows Vista and Windows 7, the Tribes Repack installer must be run as administrator in order to function.)

Quote:
Changes in release 8 (August 27, 2010):
-Added ktrail2.wav music file.
-Removed a duplicate shape file (was never used).
-Added extra RPG skins and shapes, and the rest of the files needed for Iceworld RPG.
-Iceworld RPG now actually works, but you must run the new start menu shortcut: "Wasteland + Iceworld RPG".
-Changed the primary master server due to a bug that has recently (mid August 2010) appeared in t1m1.tribesmasterserver.com; delivering hundreds of fake servers, causing refresh all to take several minutes.
-Added a Recordings folder, as the Tribes recording feature does not work without it.
-Added 'Skin Tools' to tribes/tools
-Added a new rpg skin.

And some recent changes on my main RPG server are:
-There are now clothing items, in the belt. A couple require the Tribes Repack.
-Rusty weapons have returned.
-Removed Thorin NPC (he sold Parchments for 1m coins).
-Tab menu is now the default method of talking to NPCs.
-Replaced Offensive Casting magic with elemental magic from MR-TRPG.
-Added a Lumberjack class which is able to level up by cutting down trees.
-There will be a server-wide character clear on my main RPG server, on August 31 (tuesday). ALL characters and items dropped in world will be cleared (DELETED).

And some recent (unrelated) changes on my main RPG server are:
-Armours are now belt items.
-Belt categories now support pages, as there are more than 8 categories (the limit of options per page in the tab menu).
-Added #use command, works for belt items and classic inventory items. (#use broadsword; #use orbofbreath; #use healpotion)
-Improved pack dropping code to drop as few packs as possible when you have huge numbers of items, while still avoiding content loss.
-For Repack users, town music ends immediately after leaving a town.

And some recent changes on my main RPG server are:
-Moved armours to belt.
-Tent in belt now has an option to camp.
-Added rune of teleportation, and a similar teleporter effect to masstransport (it can be #entered), allowing you to provide transport to people who are not in your group.

New Tribes Repack 5
Posted by phantom on 21.06. at 16:12
Tribes Repack release 5 is out now. Get it here (429 MB).
(On Windows Vista and Windows 7, the Tribes Repack installer must be run as administrator in order to function.)

Quote:
Changes in release 5 (June 21, 2010):
-Added some new client-side files required for certain rpg servers.
-Changed default controls (reversed W and CTRL+W, were prev-weapon and next-weapon respectively).
-Removed mp3check.exe (useless file from when rpg mod was new).
-Hackfix 1.7.6 (small changes and bug fixes).
-Added repack version to installer.
-Installer no longer replaces the following files: config.cs, clientprefs.cs, play.gui, rpgserv.cs, serverprefs.cs

Also, recent changes on my server are:
-Bot numbering system changed, number is not used if the bot is number 0. Number is per-bot-class now instead of shared across all bots.
-Added Hell Keep in the Keldrin world, at Jaten Outpost.
-Added Hellish Cave in the Norrath world, near Lakeside.
-Switched the server from running on a Windows 2000 virtual machine to running straight off Linux. The result is a small stability improvement.
-Added "block" spell, creates a magical barrier for 20 seconds.
-Limited spawndis inside dungeons, requiring certain amounts of crafting skill. Limits AFK training that's been too rampant these days.
-Added an optional tab-menu based NPC chat mechanism. Turns all NPC conversations into menus.
-Fixed reverting from #eyes while meditating.
-Rearranged the tab menu, more commonly used menus are now on the first page.
-Redesigned Limbo to look more RPG-like.
-Belt dropping is improved. Refreshes your weight, and the menu stays up after dropping items (unless you dropped your last of said item).

New Tribes Repack
Posted by phantom on 04.06. at 09:23
Last night I released the new version of the Tribes Repack (available at http://tribesrpg.org/ or directly at http://beatme101.com/files/Tribes-Repack.exe ).

Here is the changelog (I forgot to put dates on a couple entries in the readme):
Quote:
Changes in release 4 (June 3, 2010):
-Lowered the default gamma slightly. I feel the textures look better when the gamma is not turned up all the way.
-Renamed "Other Info" player setup field to "RPG password", when run as rpg mod.
-Changed console.cs to make command line parameters less strict (-dedicated no longer needs to be on the end).
-Added numpad key-bindings, for repack-compatible servers (the bindings are configured per-server).
-Hackfix 1.7.5 (small changes just for this new repack)

Changes in release 3 (March 22, 2010):
-Added War40k mod and some additional skins for other mods.
-Added a few other client side shape files.
-Worked around a bug that caused "REFRESH ALL" to take a long time.
-Hackfix 1.7.4 (small aesthetic changes)
-Repack will now stop accessing the sound device on startup if all sound volume options are turned down/disabled in options. It will still reopen sound on opening the options tab.
-Small changes to client files and defaults.
-Copied a few shapes and skins from SWRPG to RPG.

Changes in release 2 (January 15, 2010):
-Hackfix 1.7.3 (crash fixes + a hack fix tweaked)
-Additional RPG files (Farm RPG files + Carling's Orc skins)
-Some possible crashes fixed
-The repack should no longer automatically log console output unless running a dedicated server.

Changes in release 1 (December 25, 2009):
-Everything.

Also, on my main Tribes server, recent changes are as follows:
-Added server side support for the numpad key bindings
-Changed weight of coins from a small negative amount, to nothing -- fixing an exploit that allowed you to keep dropping and picking up your coins again to lower your weight for no apparent reason
-The following inventory items have been moved to belt: Black Statue, Dragon Scale, Enchanted Stone, Skeleton Bone

As a bit of trivia, there are now 77 keys that can be #set on my main server with the latest repack.
